Décollage applied on a common billboard in Sarajevo

Some materials used in the piece such as posters, adverts, notices etc. refer to real events and activities, offering glimpses into the social fabric of the city the artist lives in. The parts where the artist reveals herself include both imaginary materials and real photographs. The billboard where all of these elements are applied on therefore becomes a component of the artwork.

Isović has selected the photographs in a way that reflects the present day, going as far back as 1999, but providing only arbitrary snapshots of how she was affected by the academic circumstances of the time. Leaving unclear what photograph reveals how much, she deliberately intervenes in her personal memory, thereby alluding to the democratic memory of the time which suffered from military and political interventions.
